Privacy Policy for Playground Engineer Studio

Playground Engineer Studio (the App) is provided by Satyananda Corp., doing business as Playground Engineer (Playground Engineer, we, us, or our).

This Privacy Policy explains how the free, personal-use version of the App handles information. It applies only to Playground Engineer Studio. Our website, classes, programs, pilots, support interactions, and other services may have different privacy practices and are covered by the notices that apply to those services.

1. Privacy Summary

The free version of Playground Engineer Studio:

  • does not require an account or sign-in;

  • is designed for one person's use on an iPad and does not provide separate user profiles or private workspaces on a shared device;

  • does not ask for a student's name, email address, school, grade, or contact information;

  • does not contain advertising or behavioral tracking;

  • does not use a third-party analytics SDK;

  • does not upload projects or user-entered text to Playground Engineer;

  • does not provide cloud sync, chat, public profiles, or a public project gallery;

  • stores projects locally on the iPad; and

  • allows users to export a still picture or animated GIF of a creation to Apple Photos.

Playground Engineer cannot view projects or text that remain stored inside the App on the user's iPad.

2. Information Playground Engineer Does Not Collect Through the App

Playground Engineer does not collect personal information through the free version of the App. In particular, the App does not send us:

  • names, email addresses, telephone numbers, or mailing addresses;

  • account credentials or student identifiers;

  • school, teacher, classroom, grade, or roster information;

  • precise location, contacts, or advertising identifiers;

  • project titles, Shape or Text block content, generated code, or other project content; or

  • photographs, audio, video, voice recordings, or biometric information.

The free version does not use Picture blocks, the camera, photo import, microphone recording, AI services, or developer-operated cloud storage.

3. Projects, Preferences, and Text Created in the App

Users can create projects with Canvas, Shape, and Text blocks. Project files, project titles, block settings, text entered into a project, progress, App preferences, reminder settings, and the version and date of the adult agreement are stored locally in the App's storage on the iPad. The App does not ask for or store the adult's name or email address as part of that agreement. These locally stored items are not uploaded to Playground Engineer.

Because Text blocks allow users to type their own words, a user could choose to enter personal information. We encourage users not to place private or sensitive information in a project, particularly if they later export or share the project outside the App.

As between the user and Playground Engineer, users keep their rights in the original content they create. Playground Engineer does not claim ownership of a user's original project or writing merely because it was created with the App.

4. Shared Devices and Local Access

The App is designed for personal use and does not work as a private multi-user system. It does not provide separate accounts, passwords, profiles, or project permissions for different people using the same iPad.

Anyone who can unlock the iPad and open the App may be able to view, edit, export, overwrite, or delete all projects and other locally stored App content. One person's changes may affect everyone who uses the App on that iPad. Deleting or resetting App data may remove other people's work as well.

For that reason, we do not recommend using the current App to store private or sensitive work on a shared iPad. If an iPad is shared, the device owner or responsible adult should control device access, supervise exports, and keep separate copies of important work. The App does not itself provide a way to make one user's projects private from another user of the same device.

5. Exporting Pictures and GIFs to Photos

The free version allows users to export a still picture or animated GIF of a creation to Apple Photos. This export capability is available even though the separately named Picture block authoring feature is not included in the current free release. Playground Engineer does not receive the exported file.

After a user saves an export, the user's device settings, Apple account settings, and any service the user later selects control how that separate copy is stored, backed up, synchronized, or shared. Users should review an outside service's privacy practices before sending content to it.

6. Local Storage, Backups, and Deletion

Projects and App settings are stored locally on the iPad. They remain there until the user removes them through available App controls, resets the relevant content, or deletes the App, subject to the iPad's backup, restore, and app-offloading settings.

Apple may include local App data in a device backup or restore it according to the user's Apple and device settings. Playground Engineer does not control or receive those backups.

Deleting the App may delete locally stored projects. Users should save a separate copy of any work they want to keep before deleting the App. A copy previously saved to Photos, Files, a school system, or another service must be deleted separately from that location.

7. Device Permissions and Local Notifications

The App requests permission only when a user chooses a feature that needs it. In the current release, a user may choose to allow the App to add an exported picture or GIF to Apple Photos. The App does not receive the rest of the user's photo library through that save-only action.

The current personal-use release does not make photo import, camera capture, microphone recording, or screen recording available. If a later release enables one of those features, we will revise this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures before release.

A user may also choose to allow local Build Spark reminder notifications. The App stores the reminder setting and last creative-activity time on the iPad and asks iPadOS to schedule the reminder locally. Playground Engineer does not receive the notification setting or activity time.

Permissions can be reviewed or changed in iPad Settings.

8. Age-Range Information and Child-Safe Settings

In locations where Apple makes age-assurance features available or legally required, the App may ask Apple for the user's age range so that the App can apply age-appropriate safety settings. The App does not request or receive the user's exact birthdate.

The age range is used within the App for the current session. Playground Engineer does not receive it through a company server, use it for advertising, or combine it with a user identity.

If the user or parent declines to share an age range, or if age-range information is unavailable, the App uses its more protective student-safe settings.

9. Apple App Store Analytics and Diagnostics

The App does not contain an analytics or advertising SDK and does not send custom analytics events to Playground Engineer.

Apple may process App Store, installation, session, performance, and diagnostic information under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. When a user has chosen to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide Playground Engineer with privacy-protected and aggregated App Store analytics, such as counts of downloads, sessions, device categories, regions, or crashes. Playground Engineer does not use those reports to identify individual students or view their projects or text.

10. Children’s Privacy

The App is designed so that children can use its free creative tools without creating an account or providing personal information to Playground Engineer through the App.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the free version of the App. If a future version would collect personal information from a child, we will update this policy and implement any notice, authorization, or verifiable parental-consent process required before that collection begins.

Parents and guardians may contact us with questions about the App's privacy practices. Children should ask a parent, guardian, teacher, or other trusted adult to contact us on their behalf.

11. External Links, Support, and Separate Services

If a parent or teacher chooses to open an external link from the App, the destination website or service may collect information under its own privacy policy. The App's privacy protections do not control an outside service.

Information voluntarily sent to Playground Engineer outside the App—for example, when an adult emails us for support—is not collected by the App. We use support information to respond to the request, maintain appropriate business and security records, and comply with law. Please do not send student projects, student names, school records, or other sensitive student information in an ordinary support email. A child should ask a parent or guardian to contact us instead of contacting us directly.

12. Data Sales, Advertising, and Disclosure

Because Playground Engineer does not collect personal information through the free version of the App, we do not sell, rent, or use App user information for targeted advertising. We do not disclose App projects or user-entered text to advertisers, data brokers, AI providers, or marketing platforms because we do not receive that content.

13. Security

Local App content is protected only by the security controls and access practices used for the iPad. The App does not add a separate passcode or user-level access control. Parents, guardians, and users should use device passcodes, software updates, backup settings, and sharing controls appropriate for their circumstances.

No device or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Users should avoid entering highly sensitive information in App projects.

14. Retention

Playground Engineer does not set a server-side retention period for projects and other content that remains only on the iPad because we do not receive or control that content. Local content remains until it is removed through available App controls, reset, deleted with the App, or affected by Apple's backup, restore, or app-offloading behavior.

For information an adult voluntarily sends to us for support, we retain it only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain appropriate business or security records, resolve disputes, and comply with law.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App or applicable requirements change. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date on this website. If a change requires parental or other consent under applicable law, we will request that consent before enabling the affected feature for users who require it.
